The advanced security of Sony VAIO includes Fingerprint Biometric Protection (a high resolution fingerprint sensor which can be used as an authorisation tool for multiple applications), Hard Drive Password Protection (password protection for your hard drive, even if it’s removed and installed into another computer), and Trusted Platform Module (TPM) security chip (hardware based security for many different applications).

VAIO Hard Drive Shock Protection
When moving about, one of the dangers to a Hard Drive is potential damage to the head and platter due to rapid movement, shock or vibration. With VAIO HD Shock Protection, a 3D sensor detects rapid movement in all three axes and automatically moves the head away from the platter, protecting both the head as well as the data. To suit the various environments in which you use your laptop, there are three levels of safety sensitivity that can be selected: high, standard and low.

VAIO Dual Core
A standard Central Processing Unit (CPU) has a single core handling all its assigned tasks. The new Dual Core processors have two cores and more L2 cache dealing with the workload, effectively providing more processing power than that of a standard CPU.
The Dual Core processors are ideal for users who have high performance requirements, such as graphic designers, video editors, users of heavy calculation applications and gamers.
