NPush the hand guard forward – the chain is locked.

NOpen the twist locks (1) by turning them 1/4 turn counterclockwise with the combination wrench.

NRemove the shroud (2).

Removing the air filter

NClean away loose dirt from around the filter.

To avoid damaging the filter, do not use tools for removing and

installing the air filter.

NPull the retainer (1) upwards to the rear, tilt air filter in direction of rear handle and lift it away.

NAlways replace damaged filters.

Versions with fleece filter and felt prefilter

NSeparate the felt prefilter (1) from the fleece filter (2) and clean – see below.

Cleaning the air filter

NKnock the filter out on the palm of your hand or blow it clear with compressed air from the inside outwards.

If filter is caked with dirt:

NWash the filter in STIHL special cleaner (special accessory) or a clean, non-flammable solution (e.g. warm soapy water) and then dry.

Do not use a brush to clean the fleece filter.

Installing the air filter

NSlip the felt prefilter over the fleece filter and press it home at all four corners – only versions with fleece filter and felt prefilter.

NEngage the tabs (1) in the recesses (2).

NSwing the air filter in the direction of the filter housing and lock with retainer.

NFit the shroud.
