PREVENTION OF ACCIDENTS IN THE HOME

For a child, even a slight burn may sometimes be serious.

As they grow up, teach your children to be careful with hot appliances in the kitchen.

If your appliance is used in the company of children or disabled persons, always use it under adult supervision.

Do not touch the hot surfaces of the appliance.

Never leave the appliance plugged in when not in use.

If an accident occurs, rinse the burn immediately with cold water and call a doctor if necessary.

Cooking fumes may be dangerous for animals which have a particularly sensitive respiratory system, such as birds. We advise bird owners to keep them away from the cooking area.

For your safety, this appliance conforms to the applicable standards and regulations (Low Voltage, Tension, Electromagnetic Compatibility, Materials in contact with foodstuffs, Environmental, etc., directives), current in force.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electrical appliance, basic safety precautions should always be followed:

1.Read all instructions

2.Do not touch hot surfaces, use handles or knobs

3.Protect against electrical shock, do not immerse cord, plugs or the appliance in water or any other liquid.

4.Unplug from socket before cleaning and when not in use.

5.Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts.

6.Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug.

7. Be careful how you place the cord so that it does not get in way of guests moving around the table.

Your appliance contains many materials that can be reused or recycled.

Take it to a local civic collection point so it can be processed.

ASSEMBLING YOUR RACLETTE

Remove any packaging, stickers or accessories inside and outside the appliance.

Remove the trays.

Place the grill plate on the heating element. Both sides of the plate may be used :

-lthe smooth side for vegetables, eggs, pancakes, etc

-with the 2/3 grill and 1/3 griddle plate, you can cook meat and eggs at the same time.

Never place aluminium foil or anything else under the plate and between the appliance and the reflector.

Place the appliance on the middle of the table, out of the reach of children.

Place the appliance on a flat, stable, heat resistant surface: do not use the appliance on a soft or unsteady base.

On first use, pour a little cooking oil on the non-stick grill plate and trays,then wipe off any excess with an absorbant kitchen towel.

Never place the appliance directly onto a delicate surface (glass table,cloth, varnished furniture...).

CONNECTION AND PRE-HEATING

Unwind the cord completely.

Plug the cord into the mains - fig.1

Be cautious how you place the cord, so that it does not get in the way of guests moving around the table.

Check that your electric supply is compatible with the power and the voltage indicated under the appliance.

Earthed product : connect the appliance to a plug with an earth connection.

If the power supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent GB or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.

Never leave the appliance plugged in when not in use.

Do not leave the appliance switched on while unattended.

Set the thermostat to the max position, the indicator will light up - fig.2

Allow appliance to pre-heat for 15 minutes without the trays.

On first heating there may be a slight odour or smoke - this is normal and will quickly disappear.

COOKING

After pre-heating, the appliance is ready to be used :

For the raclette function, have each guest place a slice of cheese in their individual tray before placing it under the grill plate to melt.

Do not leave the trays in the appliance while empty.

The grill plate will cook small strips of meat on your accompaniments (bacon, mushrooms, onions, prawns, small sausages...). On the griddle plate, you can also make pancakes ad eggs.

You can adjust the thermostat during cooking according to the desired degree of cooking using the button.

Do not turn over the plate during use.

To avoid damaging the non-stick coating of the grill plate, always use a plastic Tefal or wooden utensils.

During first use, the appliance may give off a slight odour and smoke.

If you wish to move the appliance when it is hot, use the plastic side handles, taking care not to touch the metal - fig.4

Do not touch the metal parts of the appliance while in use; they are very hot.

AFTER USE

Put the thermostat control knob to min. - fig.5

Unplug the cord from the wall socket. - fig.6

Leave the appliance to cool for at least 30 min without touching it.

While it is cooling down, keep the appliance out of the reach of children.

Clean the grill plate, the trays and the base of the appliance with a sponge, hot water and washing up liquid. - fig.7

The grill plate and the trays can be put in the dishwasher.

Do not use scouring pads or hard abrasive powder to clean any part of the appliance. - fig.8

Never immerse the appliance and the cord in water or in the dishwasher.

STORAGE

Ensure the appliance is cool and unplugged before storing.

Wind the cord around the 2 hooks positioned at the back of the product - fig.9 Replace the grill plate.

Keep the stored appliance out of the reach of children.
