B. ElementRemoval& Replacement

The elernentsareto,,bereplacedas an assemblyALWAYS! .Failureto do so will resultin uneven heatingsf the griddlesurface, The elementsarespecially compressedbetweenthe elementpackage boxassemblyandttretopheaterplate. This providesevenheattransferto the griddlecookingsurface andthe eliminationof air entrapmentbetweentheelementandheaterplate.

An element'assemblycanberemoved'throughthe front of the griddle.Referto Figure4 belsw. ErsL lower'thefront controlpanelto gain accessto the elements. Seeond,removethe front insulation supportbracket,itemA, andthentheinsulationstrip,itemB. Thixl loosenevenly,the'l/16"nutson theLeft andRightsideof theheaterassemblyframesupport.As thenutsareloosened,thefrontendof theframesupporfwith theheaterassemblywill pivot down. It is noj necessaryto removetheinsula- tion coverandinsulatiqnmounted.belowthe framesupport. Fourth.oncethe nut$arcremoved,the elementassemblycanbepivotedall theway downandtheelementassemblycanbeunwiredandslid fonvardout of position.

Properalignmentof thetop heaterplateandtherrnocoupletube is essentialin ordernot to:

a)crushthethermocouplemountingtube

b)causeimpropersurfacecontactof theelementassemblywith the bottomof thegriddle surface

Theheaterplatehasa. long slot centeredat the front, It is importantthat the slot certers aroundthe thermocoupletubeastheelementassemblyis lifted andsecuredbackinto its flushpositionunderthe griddlesurface. As thenewelementin the packagebox is pivotedup into its installedposition,be sureto tightenthepackage'boxretainingnutsevenlyuntil the wholeelementassemblyis leveland tightly in place.

Insutation

After replacingtheelementassembly,bgqurethatthe 1.5" thic-kl,nsulationsheetis properlyinstalled belowtheelementframesupportwith the insulationcover. MakesureitemsA & B (front insulation

andsupportbracke-t)areptit back'inpl6ee. Failureto properlyinstall all inSulationwill resultin abnormalcompartmenttemperaturesandheatlosSfrom theelement.Thiscanresultin: a) poorcook- ing performanceand b) controlcomponentfailuredueto heat.
