A. Ttoubleshooting

Calibrationof thepotentiometeris necessaryonly afterreplacementof thecontrolleror if thecalibra- tionplateshouldbecomejarredloosefrom its factorycalibratedposition.

Theallowabletemperaturerangeof the gdddleis 15CPF(65'C)to 450'F(230.C)for eachzone.Within this temperaturepaftrmeterthetemperatureshouldfluctuateno morethan+14"F(j'C)from the set pointtemperature.

B.Calibrating Procedure

Note:Beforemakinganycalibrationadjustments,thegriddleshouldbeupto temperatureandcycling andall panelsincludingthefrontcontrolpanelmustbein theirclosedposition-Calibratingthegriddle with anyof thepanelsopenwill allow for a coolerjunctiontemperatureattheconnectiorrpoiniofthe thermocoupleat thecontrol. Thismaygive aninaccurateindication. Keepingthe panelsrclosedwill providefor a moreaccuratecalibrationeventhoughthe controldoesprovidean ice point reference (calibration)asindicatedin AppendixA. A goodtvpe K temperatureindicatorsourcemustbeused whentaking temperaturereadingsoff the griddle surfacefor calibrationadjustrnents.Properplace- mentof thethermocoupletestprobeis cmcial.SeeFigure8 for properprobeplacementon thr griddle surface.

Whentakingthetemperatureof thegriddle,thetemperatureprobeshouldbeplacedatthe centerof the griddlesurfaceOFTHAI ZONE. Thetemperatureprobeshouldbehelddownby analuminumweight

with a pieceof hightemperatureinsulation(1000degreesC) betweentheprobeandthe weight. This combinationhelpsto aquirethemostaccuratereadingspossiblewithouttheweightabsorbingtempera- turefrom the probe.

1)Determineif the temperatureof the centerof the griddle surfacefor that zone is more than+14. F(7"C)aboveor belowthesetpointof 350"F(175"C).

2)Removethetemperaturecontrolknobto gainaccessto thecalibrationadjustmentscrew.

3)Loosenthe L/2" nut aroundthepotentiometershaftandloosenthe calibrationscrew but do not remove.

5)Oncepropercalibrationhasbeenobtained,thecall for heatLED will illuminatewithin 14'F(7'C) undershootandcycleoff within14"F(7'C)of overshoot.

6)Tightenthe calibrationscrewandthe l/2" potentiometernut andpaintthe headof the calibration screwandtheareanextto thescrewwith a tamperproofshellack.

7)Replacethe controlknobmakingsureit alignswith the350'dialindicarormark.
