About cordless telephones
Privacy: The same features that make a cord less telephone conveni ent create some limitation s.
Telephone calls are transmitted bet ween the telephone base a nd the cordless handset by r adio
waves, so there is a possibility that t he cordless telephon e conversations could be i ntercepted by
radio receiving equipment wi thin range of the cordles s handset. For this reason , you should not
think of cordless telephone co nversations as being as pr ivate as those on corded tele phones.
Electrical power: The telep hone base of this cordles s telephone must be conne cted to a working
electrical outlet. The elec trical outlet should n ot be controlled by a wall swit ch. Calls cannot be
made from the cordless handset i f the telephone base is unp lugged or switched off, or i f the
electrical power is interrupte d.
Potential TV interfer ence: Some cordless te lephones operate at freque ncies that may cause
interference to televisions an d VCRs. To minimize or prevent such interfer ence, do not place
the telephone base of the cordle ss telephone near or on top of a T V or VCR. If interference is
experienced, moving the cordl ess telephone farthe r away from the TV or VCR often redu ces or
eliminates the interference.
Rechargeable batter ies: Exercise care in han dling batteries in order n ot to create a short
circuit with conducting mate rial such as rings, brace lets, and keys. The battery o r conductor may
overheat and cause harm. Observe pr oper polarity betwe en the battery and the bat tery charger.
Nickel-metal hydride re chargeable bat teries: Dispose of the se batteries in a safe manner.
Do not burn or puncture the batter y. Like other batteries of this ty pe, if burned or punctured , they
could release caustic material w hich could cause injur y.
The RBRC® seal
The RBRC® seal on the nickel-met al hydride battery ind icates that VTech
Communications, Inc. is volunt arily participating i n an industry program to
collect and recycle these bat teries at the end of their usef ul lives, when taken
out of service within the Unite d States and Canada.
The RBRC® program provides a co nvenient alternative to placi ng used nickel-
metal hydride batteries into the tr ash or municipal waste, whi ch may be illegal
in your area.
VTech’s participation in RBRC® makes i t easy for you to drop off the spe nt
battery at local retailers par ticipating in the RBRC ® program or at authorized
VTech product service center s. Please call 1-800 -8-BATTERYTM for
