The TeleLink enclosure will need to be installed as close as possible to a phone jack to keep the phone cord as short as possible between the phone and the TeleLink. The TeleLink will need the phone cord to communicate with the house phone. Run the 4-conductor wire from the TeleLink either to the AquaLink Power Center (connect to the red 4-pin terminal bar) or the AquaLink indoor controller (connect to the red 4-pin terminal bar, the wires may be doubled-up on the terminal bar). If running the 4-conductor wire to the AquaLink RS Power Center, use a strain relief on one of the knockouts on the bottom of the Power Center.

NOTE: If you are installing more than one accessory board, order and use a Jandy Multiplex PCB Kit, (p/n 6584). Never put more than two wires into each of the pins of the red terminal bar. Use the Multiplex PCB whenever more than two of the 4-conductor wire are being connected.

RS485 specifications

Waterpik Technologies RS485 is a state-of-the-art communication protocol designed to facilitate seamless data transfer in various applications, particularly in the fields of industrial automation, smart buildings, and home automation. This protocol offers several key features and technologies that make it an attractive option for a wide array of users and systems.

One of the main features of the RS485 protocol is its robust communication capability over long distances. Unlike traditional protocols, RS485 can operate effectively over distances exceeding 4,000 feet, making it ideal for large industrial environments or extensive wiring setups found in smart buildings. This long-range capability is essential for ensuring that devices remain highly functional, even when spread over vast areas.

Another notable characteristic of Waterpik Technologies RS485 is its multipoint capability. The protocol supports multiple devices on a single bus, allowing up to 32 devices to communicate simultaneously. This reduces the amount of wiring needed and simplifies the overall system architecture, which can significantly lower installation costs and maintenance challenges. It promotes flexibility, as users can effortlessly expand their networks by adding new devices without extensive modifications.

The differential signaling used in RS485 technology enhances noise immunity, which is particularly important in industrial settings where electromagnetic interference (EMI) is prevalent. This characteristic ensures reliable communication, making it possible to achieve high data integrity, even in challenging environments. Users can expect consistent performance, minimizing the risk of data loss or corruption.

Waterpik Technologies RS485 also operates in half-duplex mode, which means that data transmission can occur in both directions, but not simultaneously. This feature reduces the complexity of the wiring and helps in efficient data handling. With a maximum baud rate of 10 Mbps, the protocol can handle significant data loads while maintaining high-speed performance.

Security is another focus of Waterpik Technologies RS485, as data transmitted via this protocol can be embedded with various security measures, ensuring that sensitive information is protected during transit. This capability is essential in today’s digital landscape, where data breaches and unauthorized access pose significant risks.

In summary, Waterpik Technologies RS485 stands out for its long-distance capabilities, multipoint functionality, noise immunity, and security features. This flexible and reliable communication protocol is gaining traction in various sectors, making it a valuable asset for any modern communication system. As industries continue to evolve toward smarter, more connected environments, the importance of robust communication solutions like RS485 cannot be overstated.
