operator and others. The warnings and safety
instructions in this manual must be followed to
provide reasonable safety and efficiency i n us-
ing this unit. Theop erator is responsible for fol-
lowing the warnings and instructions in this
manual and on the unit. Never allow children to
use this tool.

KNOW YOUR UNIT

will follow all warnings and safety rules in
this manual and on the unit.

PLAN AHEAD

WARNING: Inspect area before s tart-
ing unit. Remove all debris and hard objects
such as rocks, glass, wire,etc. that can rico-
chet, be thrown, or otherwise cause injur y or
damage during operation.
DAlways wear eye protection when operating,
servicing, or performing maintenance on unit.
Wearing eye protection will help to prevent
brushor debris from being th rown or ricochet-
ing into eyes and face which can result in
blindness and/or serious injury. Eye protec-
tion should be marked Z87.
DWear hearing protection when using this
unit.
DSecurehair abov e shoulder length. Secure
or remove jewelry, loose clothing, or cloth-
ing with loosely hanging straps, ties, tas-
sels, etc. They can be caught in moving
parts.
DStay alert. Donot opera te unitw hen you are
tired,ill, upset, or i f you are under the influence
of alcohol, drugs, or medication.
DKeep children, bystanders, and animals
away from work area a minimum of 30 feet
(10 m) when starting or operating unit.

HANDLE FUEL WITH CAUTION

DEliminateall sour ces of sparks or flame (in-
cludingsmok ing, open flames, or work that
cancause spark s) in the areas where fuel is
mixed, poured, or stored.
DMix and pour fuel in an outdoor area; store
fuelin a cool, dry, well ventilat ed place; use
an approved, marked container for all fuel
purposes.
DDo not smoke while handling fuel or while
operating the unit.
DDonot fill fuel tank while engine is running.
DMake sure the unit is properly assembled
andin good operating c ondition.
DAvoidspilling fuel or oil. Wipe up fuel spills
before starting the engine.
DMoveat leas t 10 feet (3 meters) away from
fuel and fueling site before starting engine.
DAlways store gasoline in a container ap-
proved for flammable liquids.

OPERATEYOUR UNIT SAFELY

leased. Do not attempt to clear away cut ma-

the switch is in the OFF position, the spark
plug wire is disconnected, and the blade has
stopped moving before removing jammed
materialfrom the cutting blade. D o not grab or
hold the unit by the cutting blade.
DInspect unit before each use for worn,
loose, missing, or damaged parts. Do not
use until unit is in proper working order.
DKeep outside surfaces free from oil and fuel.
DNever start or run engine inside a closed
roomor building. Breathing ex haust fumes
can kill.
DAvoiddangerous envir onments. Do not use
in unventilated areas or where explosive
vapors or carbon monoxide build up could
bepr esent.
DDonot overr each or use from unstable sur-
facess uch as ladders, trees, steep s lopes,
rooftops,etc. Keep firm footing and balance
at all times.
DDonot raise unit abov e your shoulders; the
cutting blade can come dangerously close
to your body.
DAlwaysk eep unit in front of your body.K eep
allparts of y our body away from the cutting
blade.
DKeep the cutting blade and air vents free
from debris.
DUse only for jobs explained in this manual.

MAINTAINYOUR UNIT PROPERLY

DHave all maintenance other than the rec-
ommendedprocedures described in the in-
struction manual performed by an autho-
rized service dealer.
DDisconnect spark plug before performing
maintenance except for carburetor adjust-
ments.
DDo not use a cutting blade that is bent,
warped, cracked, broken, or damaged in any
other way. Have worn or damaged parts re-
placed by an authorized service dealer.
DUse only recommended WEED EATER
cutting blades and replacement parts; us e
of any other parts may void your warranty
andc ause damage to your unit.
DEmpty fuel tank before storing the unit. Use
upfuel left in carburet or by starting engine and
letting it run until it stops.
DHandcarry t he unit with the engine stopped
andthe muffler and cutting blade away from
your body.
DAllow engine to cool, empty the fuel tank,
andsec ure the unit before storing or trans-
porting it in a vehicle.
