Magnetic Declination Compensation

Compensate for an object’s bearing by subtracting westerly magnetic declination or adding easterly magnetic declinationwith the magnetic bearing.

Example 1

-Westerly magnetic declination = 23°, Magnetic bearing = 323°.

-True bearing: 323°- 23° = 300°.

Example 2

-Easterly magnetic declination = 22°, Magnetic bearing = 278°.

-True bearing: 278° + 22° = 300°.

This watch will compensate the compass bearing automatically if the user inputs the magnetic declination angle into the watch at the Magnetic Declination setting mode.

Check the “Calibrating the Compass” section on p.10 for more details of the calibration.
