INSTALLATION – WIRE CONNECTION

When installing a speaker pair, it is recommended for the length of wire to be equal for each speaker. In the case of excess wiring, simply hide the excess wire behind the wall.

Braided wire is the recommended application for in-wall and in-ceiling speaker installation.

16-gauge

Up to 100 feet

14-gauge

Greater than 100 feet

12-gauge

Key Installation Points:

(1)Turn-off all amplifier or receiver power before making a speaker connection.

(2)Be sure the speaker impedance is compatible with the amplifier.

(3)Avoid running speaker wires near electrical wiring. The speaker wire should be at least 2 feet parallel from the AC line.

(4)Observe the correct polarity when making a speaker connection. See below.

All speaker and amplifier have corresponding positive (+) and negative (-) terminals. It is important to match the polarity, the positive wire goes to positive terminal and the negative wire goes to negative terminal. Not doing so will result in wiring the speaker ‘out of phase’ which results in poor speaker performance.
