Input mode B)INPUT MODE

Use this feature to designate the input mode for sources connected to the DIGITAL INPUT jacks when you turn on this unit (see page 32 for details about the input mode). Choices: AUTO, LAST

Select AUTO to allow this unit to automatically detect the type of input signal and select the appropriate input mode.

Select LAST to set this unit to automatically select the last input mode used for that source.

Note

Even if LAST is selected, the last setting for the EXTD SUR. button will not be recalled.

Input rename C)INPUT RENAME

Use this feature to change the name of the inputs in the front panel display.

1Press an input selector button to select the input you want to change the name of.

2Press AMP.

3Press j/ ito place the _ (under-bar) under the space or the character you want to edit.

4Press u/ dto select the character you want, then use j/ ito move to the next space.

You can use up to 8 characters for each input.

Press dto change the character in the following order, or press uto go in the reverse order:

A to Z, a space, 0 to 9, a space, a to z, a space, symbols (#, *, –, +, etc.)

5Repeat steps 1 through 4 to rename each input.

6To exit, press SET MENU when finished.

Display settings A)DISPLAY SET

Dimmer DIMMER

Use to adjust the brightness of the front panel display. Choices: –4 to 0

<HTR-5850 only>

Video conversion V CONV.

Use this feature to turn on/off conversion of composite (VIDEO) signals to S-video signals. This allows you to output converted video signals from the S VIDEO jacks when no S-video signals are input.

Choices: ON, OFF

Select OFF not to convert any signals (except S-video signals to composite signals).

Select ON to convert composite signals to S-video signals and component signals, and to convert S-video signals to component signals.

Regardless of the setting, S-video signals are always converted to composite signals.

Note

Converted video signals are only output to the MONITOR OUT jacks. When recording you must make the same type of video connections (i.e., S-video) between each component.

Memory guard B)MEMORY GUARD

Use this feature to prevent accidental changes to DSP program parameter values and other system settings. Choices: ON, OFF

Select ON to protect:

DSP program parameters

All SET MENU items

All speaker levels

Note

When MEMORY GUARD is set to ON, you cannot select any other SET MENU items.

Parameter initialization C)PARAM. INI

Use this feature to initialize the parameters for each sound field program within a sound field program group. When you initialize a sound field program group, all of the parameter values within that group revert to their initial settings.

Press the corresponding numeric button for the sound field program that you want to initialize.

Choices: STEREO, MUSIC, ENTERTAINMENT, MOVIE, STANDARD

Notes

You cannot automatically revert to the previous parameter settings once you initialize a sound field program group.

You cannot separately initialize individual sound field programs.

You cannot initialize any program groups when “MEMORY GUARD” is set to ON.
