The Zoom/Modem V.92 PC Card Model 3005 is a high-performance 56K fax
modem that plugs into the PCMCIA slot of a Windows laptop computer. The
Model 3005's performance is enhanced by an on-board DSP (Digital S ignal
Processor) and ITU V.92 / V.44 standard compatibility.
The Zoom/Modem V.92 PC Card outperforms V.90 modems. ITU V.92 is a new
standard for dialup modems. It, and its companion compression standard V .44,
makes communications faster, easier and more enjoyable. The "autom atic
negotiation" or "handshake" at the beginning of a call can be over t wice as fast with
Zoom/Modem V.92 models than with V.90 modems.
The new V.44 compression technology results in significantly faster Web
browsing and download speeds. Upload speeds (before compression) with
Zoom/Modem V.92 models can be up to 40% faster, too. As an added conven ience,
the Zoom/Modem V.92 allows an incoming phone call to be received witho ut losing an
Internet connection. These dramatic improvements in performanc e are available to
Zoom/Modem V.92 users whose ISP (Internet Service Provider) has up graded to the
new standard. The Model 3005 is also fully compatible with the V.90 s tandard.
The Zoom/Modem 56K V.92 PC Card Model 3005’s small size, easy installation,
and rugged connector make it ideal for traveling -- even worldwide! The
Zoom/Modem V.92 PCMCIA Model 3005 is furnished with the Zoom World Traveler™
Universal DAA software that allows the modem to work with phone system s in 185
countries.
The Model 3005 includes V.80 capability for compatibility with H.324 standard
point-to-point video telephony over regular phone lines. It also supports both Group
3, Class 1 Fax.
Additional features include PC Card Guard™ to protect against damage to the
modem that can be caused by overvoltage. This condition may be caused by
accidental connection to a digital PBX phone. Another protective f eature is our
industry leading ZoomGuard lightning protection. ZoomGuard is not only better than
the “varistor” protection found on other modems, but also outperforms most stand-
alone surge protectors.
Bundled software includes hardware drivers and utilities plus f ax/voice/data
communications, videoconferencing, Internet access, graphics editing and other
useful programs including AdSubtract ad block / cookie filter.
