Replacing the Air Filter
If the engine seems weak or runs unevenly, the air filter may be clogged. If run with a dirty air filter, the spark plug can become fouled. For this reason, it is important to replace the air filter regularly (see the heading Maintenance Schedule for the proper service interval).

Cleaning/replacing the air filter is carried out as follows:
Briggs and Stratton engine
The air filter is replaced as follows:
1.Remove the air filter cowling
2.Remove the filter cartridge.
3.Remove the foam filter
4.Tap the paper filter against a fixed surface to remove dust. If the paper filter is still dirty, it must be replaced.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Do not use compressed air to clean the paper filter.
Filters should not be oiled. They should be assembled dry.
5.Wipe clean the inside of air filter housing.
6.Refit the foam filter (pre filter).
7.Mount the filter in the air filter housing.
8.Replace the cowling over the air filter housing.

Operating the engine with loose damaged air cleaner components could allow unfiltered air into the engine, causing premature wear and failure.
WARNING!
The engine and the exhaust system, become very hot during operation.
Risk for burns if touched.
Allow engine and exhaust system to cool at least two (2) minutes before refueling.
