How To Replace The Friction Wheel

If the friction wheel is worn or damaged, the snow thrower will not move forward.

The friction wheel must be replaced as follows.

1, Run the engine until the fuel tank is empty and the engine stops.

2.Stand the snow thrower up on the front end of the auger housing (4). (see Figure 37).

3.Disconnect the spark plug wire.

4.Remove the fasteners that secure the right wheel Remove the right wheel from the axle (see Figure 40)

5.Loosen the bolts on each side of the bottom panel.

6.Remove the bottom panel.

7.Remove the fasteners that secure the drive sprocket to the axle (see Figure 41).

8.Remove the left wheel, axle, and drive sprocket.

9.Remove the four bolts that hold the bearings on each side of the hex shaft (see Figure 42).

NOTE: Take special note of the posi- tion of the washers on the hex shaft.
