Device IDs (IDSEL)

Each device under the PCI hub bridge has its IDSEL signal connected to one bit of AD[31:16], which acts as a chip select on the PCI bus segment in configuration cycles. This determines a unique PCI device ID value for use in configuration cycles. The following table shows each IDSEL value for the PCI bus devices and the corresponding device description.

Data Storage

Serial ATA (SATA)

The server board S875WP1-E supports Serial ATA devices using the ICH5-R controller. The ICH-5 provides the following Serial ATA support:

150 MB/sec transfer rate

Up to two SATA devices on the server board S875WP1-E. These are indicated by the connectors labeled SATA-B1 and SATA-B2 on the server board.

Support for RAID 0 (Striping) and 1 (Mirroring) is planned, but not currently available.

The server board S875WP1LX supports an additional four Serial ATA devices using the Promise Technology PDC20319 host controller. These are indicated by the connectors labeled from left to right on the server board: SATA-A4, SATA-A2, SATA-A3, and SATA-A1. The Promise PDC20319 controller provides the following Serial ATA support:

150 MB/sec transfer rate

Support for RAID 0 (Striping), 1 (Mirroring), and 10 (Mirroring and Striping).

NOTES

Although the Promise Technology PDC20319 Serial ATA controller on this product supports up to 150 MB/sec transfer rate, the PCI bus limits some SATA devices are limited to a maximum of 133 MB/sec.
