Chapter 4. Configuring the server

Lenovo provides a number of programs to assist you with getting your server up and running quickly.

vThinkServer EasyStartup program

This program simplifies the process of configuring your RAID controller and installing supported operating systems and device drivers. It is on the EasyStartup DVD provided with your server. For details, see “Using the EasyStartup DVD.”

vConfiguration/Setup Utility program

This program enables you to configure hardware settings and preferences in the BIOS. For details, see “Using the Configuration/Setup Utility program” on page 35

vLSI Configuration Utility

This program is part of the BIOS code on models with an optional LSI storage controller with RAID capability.

vBroadcom Gigabit Ethernet Utility program:

Use this program to configure the network as a startable (bootable) device or specify where the network startup option is displayed in the startup sequence. For additional information, see “Enabling the Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet Utility program” on page“Configuring the Gigabit Ethernet controllers” on page 36.

vThinkServer EasyManage products

ThinkServer EasyManage Core Server and ThinkServer EasyManage Agent work together to provide centralized hardware and software inventory management and secure automated system management through a single console. For details, see “Installing ThinkServer EasyManage software” on page 33.

The following table lists the different server configurations and the applications that are available for configuring and managing RAID arrays.

Using the EasyStartup DVD

The EasyStartup DVD simplifies the process of configuring your RAID controller and installing an operating system. The program works in conjunction with your Windows® or Linux® operating-system installation disc to automate the process of installing the operating system and associated device drivers.
