The following tuning parameters can be modified dynamically:

*5

FORCEDTERM

Forces termination of the subsystem.

*5

HDSTNI

Number of server tasks for asynchronous I/Os.

*5

HDPTNI

Maximum number of mounted local file systems.

*5

HEAPSZ

Maximum possible value for brk() system call.

*5

MAXTIMERC

Maximum number of seconds for terminating

*5

rc scripts.

*5

MAXUP

Maximum number of processes per user.

*5

NPROC

Maximum number of processes in complete system.

*5

NOTTY

Maximum number of ttys.

*5

NOSTTY

Maximum number of sttys.

*5

DBLPOOL

Size of the global program cache in MB for the

*5

posdbl command.

*5

Extensions to the POSIX installation program

*5

*5

The POSIX installation program START-POSIX-INSTALLATION has been

*5

extended by the following functions for automated installation

*5

(batch mode):

*5

- Installation errors are recorded in the logging file

*5

/var/sadm/pkg/insterr.

*5

- The feedback of a command return code (MAINCODE, SUBCODE1,

*5

SUBCODE2) and triggering the SPIN-OFF mechanism within

*5

procedures are supported via the new SDF ERROR-HANDLING

*5

operand.

*5

Extensions to the mmap() function

*5

- As of POSIX A39, the mmap() function also supports files

*5

mounted via NFS.

*5

- mmap also supports mapping /dev/zero for increasing

*5

performance and reducing the porting effort of JAVA versions.

*5

You will find detailed information about all innovations to POSIX

*5

A39 in the Release Notice SYSFGM.POSIX-BC.060.E.

2.17.5New system diagnostic tool Auxiliary SERSLOG Extensions (ASE)

*5 The Auxiliary SERSLOG Extensions (ASE) are implemented in the ASE

*5 subsystem and represent an automated extension to the SERSLOG

*5 events. With ASE, SERSLOG events can be monitored and actions can

*5 be triggered when they occur. Both single record types and com-

*5 plete message classes can be monitored. It is also possible to

*5 set boundary conditions for the actions, such as frequency of the

*5 SERSLOG events.

*5 Possible actions are:

*5 - Message output to the console.

*5 - Teleservice call.

*5 - Logging into an internal buffer.

*5 The SERSLOG events to be monitored by ASE, the thresholds and the

*5 actions are defined via commands.

*5 ASE is a global system resource. Each user that has the TSOS

*5 privilege required for command execution can also execute any ASE

*5 command.
