To connect an external hub, switch, router, or concentrator to a Cisco RPS, perform the following steps:

Step 1 Disconnect the AC power cord on a hub or switch; turn the power switch to the OFF position on a router or concentrator.

Step 2 Connect the DC-output end of the cable to the RPS connector on the rear panel of the hub, switch, router, or concentrator. The DC-output end of the RPS cable has either 8 or 18 pins in the connector. (For connector locations, see Figure 10 through Figure 13.)
