4.5 Preparing the BM85 for Downloading
The BM85 rear panel has two sets of switches One set allows the BM85 to either accept a download or run an application that was previously downloaded The other set of switches assigns a Modbus Plus node address
Before you can download your application you must set the switches to allow the load You must also set the node address to agree with the address parameter you are using with the download utility program Instructions for setting the switches are provided in Sections 46 and 47
You can download to the BM85 at its installation site You might find it more convenient to have a spare Modbus Plus network connector in the vicinity of your download host and to perform the download locally
Caution:Adding a new node to an active network causes an increase in the network's token rotation time, reducing the overall data throughput. Before you connect or disconnect any device on an active network, you should be aware of its effect on network timing.
After the download is completed the BM85 switches must be set to allow it to run the application All BM85 switch settings are sensed on powerup
