6-4 The Adaptec Flash Utility

The Adaptec Flash Utility (AFU) allows administrators to update, save, and manage RAID controller ﬁ rmware BIOS and NonVolatile RAM. The utility is text based.

It is recommended that, although the AFU provides safeguards against improper conﬁ guration, AFU management should be performed by an experienced technician or administrator. Improper use may damage the RAID controller.

It is recommended that administrators use the BIOS-based ACU to create a bootable array and the Adaptec Storage Manager for storage management tasks.
