During the POST (Power On Self Test) routines, which are performed each time the system is powered on, errors may occur.

These fatal errors are communicated through a series of audible beeps. The numbers on the fatal error list below correspond to the number of beeps for the corresponding error. All errors listed, with the exception of number eight, are fatal errors.

1Refresh Failure - The memory refresh circuitry is faulty.
2Parity Error - A parity error was detected in the first 64K block of system memory.
3Base 64KB Memory Failure - A memory failure occurred within the first 64KB of memory.
4Timer Not Operational - Timer #1 has failed to function properly.
5Processor Error - The CPU chip has generated an error.

7Processor Exception lnterrupt Error - The CPU chip has generated an exception interrupt.
8Display Memory Read /Write Error - The video adapter is either missing or the video memory is faulty. PLEASE NOTE: This is not a fatal error.
9ROM Checksum Error - The ROM checksum value does not match the value encoded in the BIOS.
10CMOS Shutdown Register Read/Write Error - The shutdown register for the CMOS memory has failed.
11Cache Memory Read/Write Error - A Cache Memory failure occurred, do not enable the Cache Memory to resume operation.
