Installing FireFly Software

SmartDisk recommends that you install the software contained on the Installation CD. Although your FireFly may work without this software (drivers), installation of the software adds functionality on Macintosh computers and ensures optimum performance on PCs.

The following software installation procedures only need to be done once on a computer. Thereafter, you can connect and unplug FireFly as needed.

Mac OS Users

1Insert the FireFly installation CD into your CD-ROM drive.

2Double-click the Install SmartDisk Tools icon.

3Follow the on-screen instructions.

You can now connect FireFly anytime (as described on page 13) to transfer files and data.

PC (Windows) Users

1Connect the FireFly to your computer as described on page 14.

1Insert the FireFly installation CD into the CD-ROM drive.

2Open My Computer or Windows Explorer.

3Double click on the CD icon or drive letter assigned to the CD-ROM drive.

4Double-click on Setup.exe.

5Follow the on-screen instructions.

You can now connect FireFly anytime (as described on page 13) to transfer files and data.

Special Instructions for Windows 98 SE Users

Follow the instructions in this section if both of the following is true:

You are a Windows 98SE user.

You are prompted to insert the Windows 98SE CD after you connect the FireFly.
