Projection dimensions calculation methods

If the screen size (diagonal) is SD (m), then the following formula is used to calculate the projection distance for the wide lens position (LW) and the projection distance for the telephoto lens position (LT).

PT-LB50NTE/PT-LB50E

LW=0.0307xSD/0.0254-0.031

LT=0.0371xSD/0.0254-0.029

PT-LB50SE

LW=0.0304xSD/0.0254-0.029

LT=0.0368xSD/0.0254-0.041

For 16:9 aspect ratios, the following formula can be used to calculate the projection distance.

PT-LB50NTE/PT-LB50E

LW=0.0335xSD/0.0254-0.0315

LT=0.0405xSD/0.0254-0.0365

PT-LB50SE

LW=0.0332xSD/0.0254-0.032

LT=0.0401xSD/0.0254-0.038

*The values obtained from the formulas above are approximate.

NOTE:

BIf 4:3 images are projected onto a 16:9 screen that has been set using the projection distance for a 16:9 screen, the 4:3 images will overflow the

screen at the top and bottom. In such cases, set “ASPECT” to “S4:3”. (Refer to page 46 for details.)
