Technical Information for System Engineers

Architectural Specifications

The loudspeaker shall consist of a

203mm (8 in) low-frequency trans- ducer and one 25 mm (1 in) high-fre- quency transducer with a frequency dividing network installed in a sealed enclosure. The low-frequency voice coil diameter shall be 25 mm (1 in).

Performance specifications of a typical production unit shall be as follows: Usable frequency range shall extend from 54 Hz - 22 kHz. The loudspeaker shall be available with selectable 25/70.7/100 Volt and 8 Ohm/ voice coil direct tap switch. The fre- quency-dividing network shall have a crossover frequency of 5.6 kHz. Rated power capacity of the components and network shall be at least 40 Watts con- tinuous RMS power.

Designed for both 25/70.7/100 Volt and 8 Ohm/voice coil direct applica- tions, the CM-EZ-II is factory preset to the 70.7 at 20 Watts operating mode, with a tap switch located on the back- can.

The backcan shall be constructed of zinc-plated steel with an ABS plastic bezel. The grille shall be constructed of powder-coated steel. The low-fre- quency transducer shall have a poly- propylene cone material with butyl rubber surround. The high-frequency transducer shall be constructed of polypropylene material using a bal- anced-dome configuration.

Packaged complete with UL-listed flex conduit clamp, tile bridge, grille, cut-out template and paint shield, the integrated CM-EZ-II open-ceiling speaker is engineered for high per- formance and rapid installation in plenum spaces. The CM-EZ-II incor- porates a secondary attachment bolt for added security, or where required by code.

The CM-EZ-II installation shall be by 4-point blind-mount system using spring-loaded cams and a tile bridge.

The CM-EZ-II’s spring-loaded cams are adaptable to stable surfaces including drop tile and sheetrock with mate- rial thicknesses ranging from 1/2 in (12.70 mm) to 3/4 in (19.05 mm). For

surfaces thicker than 5/8 in (15.87 mm), proper installation requires removing the rubber feet on the cam mechanisms. Refer to the CM-EZ-II Pre-Construction Bracket Installation Instructions at www.soundtube.com.

The system shall be the SoundTube CM-EZ-II for both low & high imped- ance applications.

CM-EZ-II specifications

The Phase Technology CM-EZ-II is an innovative in-wall speaker that has been designed to cater to the evolving needs of audio enthusiasts and home theater consumers. With its sleek aesthetics and advanced audio engineering, the CM-EZ-II offers a seamless integration into any room while maintaining high-fidelity sound quality.

One of the standout features of the CM-EZ-II is its advanced driver technology. This speaker uses a 6.5-inch polypropylene woofer that ensures a rich and full-bodied bass response, providing an immersive listening experience. Accompanying the woofer is a 1-inch soft dome tweeter, which delivers crystal-clear highs and ensures that dialogue in movies and music is crisp and intelligible. Together, these components create a balanced audio profile that is suitable for various genres of music and audio formats.

Installation of the CM-EZ-II is remarkably user-friendly, thanks to its innovative design. The speakers come with a Guide Rail mounting system that allows for easy alignment with standard studs, making installation straightforward even for DIY enthusiasts. The magnetic grille adds a touch of elegance, allowing homeowners to customize the look of their speakers, as well as providing access to the drivers for future maintenance.

The speaker also employs an advanced crossover network, which divides the audio signal into the appropriate frequency bands. This ensures that the woofer and tweeter work in harmony, resulting in optimal sound reproduction. Additionally, the phase alignment is finely tuned to create a coherent soundstage, providing listeners with a more immersive audio experience.

Phase Technology has incorporated moisture-resistant materials into the design of the CM-EZ-II, making it an excellent choice for installations in humid environments such as bathrooms or kitchens. This durability ensures that the speakers will perform reliably over time without compromising sound quality.

Furthermore, the CM-EZ-II is compatible with various home theater systems and can be integrated into multi-room audio setups with ease. The speaker’s versatile design and high-quality components make it an ideal solution for consumers seeking a premium in-wall audio experience.

In summary, the Phase Technology CM-EZ-II represents the intersection of design, performance, and versatility. Its robust features, including advanced driver technology, user-friendly installation, and durability, make it a leading choice for anyone looking to enhance their audio experience in a discreet manner. Whether for music or home theater use, the CM-EZ-II is built to deliver a sound that is both engaging and fulfilling.
