Service Call Errors

The scanner automatically performs self-diagnostic testing each time it is switched on. If this testing reveals a problem or if a problem arises during scanner operation, the scanner shows a service call error on the display. A service call error is indicated by an error code consisting of an “E” followed by three digits (“Ennn” where “n” indicates a number). This code is displayed in 2 parts as “En” followed by “nn”. (Eg. “E123” is displayed as “E1” followed by “23”.)

When a service call error occurs, proceed as follows:

1Immediately switch off the scanner and wait several minutes.

2Switch the scanner on again and check the scanner status.

Note

When a service call error occurs, it is sometimes possible to resolve the problem simply by switching the scanner off for a while and then switching it on again.

When you cannot clear a service call error

Make a note of the error code and the nature of the problem. Then switch off the scanner and any peripheral units such as the carrier, unplug the power cord and contact an authorized Canon service technician.
