This chapter discusses ways to troubleshoot the DTV-102 converter box and provides the module specifications.

5.1 Troubleshooting Guide

If you are experiencing problems with the DTV-102, see Table 1 for available solutions.

S ymptom	S olution
	Make sure the power supply is securely plugged into a standard wall outlet and the
No power	cord is plugged into the power connector on the C B module.
	Make sure the C B module is turned on using the front panel power button or the
	remote control power button.
	Make sure to point the remote control directly at the remote control sensor on the
	C B , with no obstacles in between them.
	Y ou may be too far from C B . T ry moving closer.

	Make sure that the Auto P rogram process in the C hannel menu has been
	completed. It will be required when you setup the C B for the first time or when the
	C B is moved to a location where other channels are broadcast.
All digital channels are not	T he selected channel does not exist at the time. T here are not always
received	sub-channels being broadcast.
	When the Auto P rogram process is interrupted and not completed, some channels
	will not be received. Make sure to complete the Auto P rogram process in the
	C hannel menu.
C C display stays on or two	Make sure the C B C C mode is set to Off.
sets of captions are shown	Make sure that the T V’s C C display is turned off. R efer to the T V owner’s manual
	for further information on how to turn off its C C feature.
F orgot the P IN for V -C hip	Unplug the AC power cord and wait for approx. 5 seconds, then plug in the power
	cord. In the V -C hip menu, enter the default number "0000."

C B is not responding to the	Make sure that the remote control batteries are installed in the correct direction (+
remote control
	and –).
	T he batteries may be depleted. T ry replacing them with new ones .
	Verify C B is operating correctly by pressing buttons on the front panel of C B .
	Make sure that the antenna in cable is correctly connected to the C B .
	Make sure that the video out cable is correctly connected to the C B and T V .
	Make sure that the C B and TV are turned on.
No picture	Make sure that the T V is correctly set to the selected C B video output channel.
	R efer to the T V owner’s manual for further information.
	C heck the antenna and the antenna cable. There may be damage or interference
	sources .
	C heck the antenna and the antenna cable. There may be damage or interference

P icture is blocky or not clear	R eposition the antenna to improve signal s trength. S ignal strength can also be
	affected by rain or snow. In the US A, the website www.antennaweb.org can
	provide help in determining the best antenna orientation.
	Make sure that the audio cables are correctly connected between the C B audio
	outputs and the T V audio inputs .
	Make sure that C B and T V are turned on.
	Make sure the C B and T V volume settings are at a reasonable level.
No sound	Make sure that the MUT E function is not activated on the C B or T V .
	Make sure the T V is correctly set to the selected C B audio output channel.
	When T V has only one audio input jack, use a standard audio cable (white) to
	connect the audio output jack (white) on the C B to the audio input jack on the T V .
