Component Video (Y Pb Pr)

This method of transmitting pictures produces the highest quality as the video signal is split into its Y(brightness), U and V(red minus rightness, blue minus brightness )components. The signal can also be sent as interlaced or as progressive scan.

Dolby Digital

Dolby Laboratories standard for transmitting 5.1 channels. Five full-value channels are transmitted in this acoustic playback system. A further channel is used for low frequencies(effects). The loudspeakers are arranged front left, front middle, rear left and rear right. This system is currently the most common system and is used in cinemas.

Transmission standard for 5.1 channels from Digital Theater Systems Inc. This is the second most wide-spread after Dolby Digital.
