Audio Setup

Digital Setup

Audio Out

The digital audio output jacks (labeled “Coaxial” and “Optical”) are used to output

the audio signal recorded on DVD discs to

an external digital amplifi er/receiver. Use the Audio Out setting to specify the format of the digital signal from these jacks.

1Press SETUP

2Press / to select “AUDIO SETUP”

3Press / to select “AUDIO OUT”, then press

4Press / to select your preferred Digital Out setting.

SPDIF/OFF - Select if you are not using the digital audio output.

SPDIF/RAW - Select if the player is connected to a 5.1 channel amplifi er/ receiver with a Dolby Digital decoder.

SPDIF/PCM - Select if the player is connected to a 2 channel digital amplifi er.

5Press ENTER

6Press SETUP or select “EXIT SETUP” to exit the menu system.

WARNING:

Do not set “AUDIO OUT” to “SPDIF/ RAW” unless you are connecting the player to an amplifi er/receiver with Dolby Digital (AC-3) decoding capability.

High volume sound may damage your hearing as well as the speakers.

Dynamic Range

You can compress the dynamic range (the difference between the quietest and loudest passages) of a DVD soundtrack.

2Press / to select “DIGITAL SETUP”

3Press / to select “DYNAMIC RANGE”, then press

4Press / to adjust the Dynamic Range in 1/8 increments from OFF (no compression) to FULL (maximum compression).

5Press ENTER

6Press SETUP or select “EXIT SETUP” to exit the menu system.

Dual Mono

You can specify the format of the audio signal from the left/right Audio Out jacks.

1Press SETUP

2Press / to select “DIGITAL SETUP”

3Press / to select “DUAL MONO”, then press

4Press / to

select STEREO (separate left and right channels), MONO L (left channel only), MONO R (right channel only), or MIX MONO (mixed left and right channels).

5Press ENTER

6Press SETUP or select “EXIT SETUP” to exit the menu system.
