Still Picture/Frame-By-Frame Playback

Press PAUSE. If there is vertical jitter, use the CH 5 (+) or

°() button to correct the picture.

 

 

 

During still picture, the normal (mono) sound from

 

 

the previous 3 seconds (approx.) will be played back

 

 

repeatedly (provided there was at least 6 seconds of

 

 

normal playback prior to engaging the still picture

 

 

mode).

 

 

"TIMESCAN AUDIO" must be set to "ON", or the

 

 

sound will not be heard (pg. 35).

High-Speed Search

ACTIVATE HIGH-SPEED SEARCH

1 During playback or still, press FF for forward high-speed search, or REW for reverse high-speed search.

The search speed is 7 times normal playback speed with SP recordings, and 21 times normal with EP recordings.

TimeScan will be automatically engaged during high- speed search with an SP-recorded tape.

If the tape speed changes from SP to EP during high- speed search the TimeScan mode will change to EP search mode.

Press TIME SCAN for the opposite direction during high-speed search of an EP-recorded tape to change to 7x TimeScan search. (pg. 34)

To resume normal playback, press PLAY.

ACTIVATE SLOW-MOTION PLAYBACK

1 For hands-free slow-motion, press TIME SCAN ª during playback to decrease speed in the forward direction. Continue to press TIME SCAN ª to select the reverse slow motion, reverse play and reverse search modes.

OR

During still picture, press and hold TIME SCAN £for forward slow motion, or press and hold TIME SCAN ª for reverse slow motion. Release to return to still picture.

To resume normal playback, press PLAY.

Refer to the chart on page 35 for the Play, Slow Motion and Search speeds that are selected using the TIME SCAN buttons.

For short searches, during playback or still, press and hold FF or REW for over 2 seconds. When released, normal playback resumes.
