Using the V-Chip

At this point, one of the TV-GUIDELINES is selected.

Press the VOL+ button: Depending on your existing setup, a letter “U” or

“B” will be selected (U: Unblocked, B: Blocked).

Press the TV CH+/- buttons to block or unblock the category.

Press the VOL+ button. To select different TV-GUIDELINES, press the TV CH+/- buttons and then repeat the process.

TV-Y7, TV-PG, TV-14 and TV-MA have additional options.

See the next step to change any of the following sub-ratings:

Note 1 FV: Fantasy violence, V: Violence, S: Sexual situation,

L: Language, D: Dialog.

● The V-Chip will automatically block certain categories that are

“more restrictive.”

Note 2 For example, if you block the TV-G category, then TV-PG, TV-14, and TV-MA will be automatically blocked.

How to set the FV, V, S, L and D sub-ratings: First, select one of these TV-

GUIDELINES: TV-Y7, TV-PG, TV-14 or TV-MA (see Step 4). Next, while TV-

GUIDELINES is selected, repeatedly press the VOL+ button.

This will cycle through the available sub-ratings (FV, V, S, L and D). A letter (“U” or “B”) is displayed for each sub-rating. While the “U” or “B” is selected, press the TV CH+/- buttons to change the sub-rating.

● The V-Chip will automatically block certain categories that are

“More restrictive”.

Note For example, if you block the “L” sub-rating in TV-PG, then the “L” sub-ratings in TV-14 and TV-MA will automatically be blocked.
