Still Picture/Frame-By- Frame Playback

PAUSE DURING PLAYBACK

1 Press PAUSE. If there is vertical jitter, use the CH 5 or ° button to correct the picture.

During still picture, the normal (mono) sound from the previous 3 seconds (approx.) will be played back repeatedly (provided there was at least 6 seconds of normal playback prior to engaging the still picture mode).

"TIMESCAN AUDIO" must be set to "ON", or the sound will not be heard (pg. 36).

ACTIVATE FRAME-BY-

FRAME PLAYBACK

2 Turn the JOG dial to the right for forward frame-by- frame playback, or to the left for reverse frame-by-frame playback.

OR

Press PAUSE repeatedly to advance one frame at a time.

OR

Press PUSH JOG £repeatedly for forward frame-by- frame playback or PUSH JOG ªrepeatedly for reverse frame-by-frame playback.

To resume normal playback, press PLAY.

High-Speed Search

ACTIVATE HIGH-SPEED SEARCH

1 During playback or still, press FF for forward high-speed search, or REW for reverse high-speed search.

The search speed is 7 times normal playback speed with SP recordings, and 21 times normal with EP recordings.

TimeScan will be automatically engaged during high- speed search with an SP-recorded tape.

If during high-speed search the tape speed changes from SP to EP the search mode will change to EP TimeScan.

Press PUSH JOG for the opposite direction or turn the TIME SCAN SHUTTLE ring to the opposite direction during high-speed search of an EP-recorded tape to change to 7x TimeScan search. (pg. 34)

To resume normal playback, press PLAY.

ACTIVATE SLOW-MOTION

PLAYBACK

For hands-free slow-motion, turn the TIME SCAN

SHUTTLE ring one or two positions to the left or press

PUSH JOG ª during playback to decrease speed in

 

the forward direction. Continue to turn the TIME SCAN

 

SHUTTLE ring to the left or press PUSH JOG ª to

 

select the two reverse slow motion, reverse play and

 

reverse search modes.

 

OR

 

During still picture, turn the TIME SCAN SHUTTLE ring

 

to the right for forward slow motion, or to the left for

 

reverse slow motion.

 

OR

 

During still picture, press and hold PUSH JOG £for

 

forward slow motion, or press and hold PUSH JOG ª

 

for reverse slow motion. Release to return to still picture.

Refer to the chart on pg. 35 for slow motion speeds. To resume normal playback, press PLAY.

For short searches, during playback or still, press and hold FF or REW for over 2 seconds. When released, normal playback resumes.
