BASIC PLAYBACK OPERATIONS

Follow the procedures below to carry out basic disc playback operations. The DVD receiver also provides various useful functions for disc playback. For details, refer to “USEFUL PLAYBACK OPERATIONS” (page 23).

To start playback

Press p.

y

If you do not perform any operations for 180 minutes after a menu screen appears on your TV, the DVD receiver turns into the screen saver mode. To cancel the screen saver mode, press any button. If you do not perform any operations for 30 minutes after the DVD receiver turns into the screen saver mode, the DVD receiver turns into the standby mode.

CD You can play back the first 10 seconds of each track by

pressing and holding p. Press pagain to play back the current track.

To stop playback

Press s.

Whenever you stop playback, the DVD receiver automatically memorizes the stopping position, and “RESUME” appears in the front panel display. If you press h, playback resumes from where it left off.

To pause playback

Press e.

To return to normal playback, press p.

If you do not perform any operations for 15 minutes after you stop or pause the disc playback, the DVD receiver turns into the screen saver mode. To cancel the screen saver mode, press any button. If you do not perform any operations for 30 minutes after the DVD receiver turns into the screen saver mode, the DVD receiver turns into the standby mode.

To fast reverse or fast forward

y

To fast reverse, press and hold b. To fast forward, press and hold a.

Once fast reverse or fast forward starts, you can change the speed (2X, 4X, 8X, or 20X) by pressing bor arepeatedly. Press pto resume the normal playback.

Note

The speakers do not produce any sound if you fast forward/reverse while playing a Dolby Digital disc.

To skip chapters (tracks)

To skip to the start of the current chapter (track), press b.

To skip to the next chapter (track), press a.

To skip to the previous chapter (track), quickly press b twice.

Note

The Skip feature may not work properly when using Playback Control (page 27) to play a video CD.

To specify a track for playback

VCD CD

Use the number buttons to enter the track number you want to play and then press p.

To enter 2-digit number, press a number button for the second digit place, then press a number button for the first digit place.
