Chapter 2: Installation

Connecting required devices

Before powering up the unit, cameras and a main monitor should be connected to the unit for basic operation. If needed, connect a spot monitor for displaying full screen video of all installed cameras in sequence.

Note: You can attach an extension to the RS-485 port on the back panel.

Connecting external devices

When connecting external devices to include as part of the entire system, such as a USB drive or any other USB devices, connect those devices only when the unit displays live view. The DVR 31 recognizes external devices only after the unit has gone through the initialization process.
