GETTING STARTED (CONTD)

REMOTE CONTROL BATTERY INSTALLATION

1.Open the battery compartment cover.

2.Insert two AA batteries, positioned as indicated, inside the battery compartment.

3.Close the cover.

KEYBOARD BATTERY INSTALLATION

Inserting batteries into the keyboard:

1.Open the battery compartment cover.

2.Insert four AA batteries, positioned as indicated, inside the battery compartment.

3.Close the cover.

CAUTION

DO NOT MIX OLD AND NEW BATTERIES, AND NEVER MIX DIFFERENT TYPES OF BATTERIES (STANDARD, ALKALINE, OR NICAD).

FRONT PANEL

Smart Card Slot

Allows you to use Smart Card technology when it becomes available. Additional acces- sories may be required. Information will be provided when features become available.

Infrared (IR) Sensor

Receives signals from the remote control and wireless keyboard.

Connected LED Blinks as you are dial- ing and lights when you are signed on.

Power LED Lights when the Set Top Box is on.

SET TOP BOX PLACEMENT

Place the Set Top Box on a firm, flat surface.

Keep the Set Top Box away from heating equip- ment and direct sunlight.

Do not stack other equipment on top of your Set Top Box.

Do not put anything that could spill liquid on top of the Set Top Box.

Keep one inch of free space around the Set Top Box for adequate ventilation.

SMART HELP

Your Set Top Box works best if it is connected continuously to

the power outlet. Unless you are moving, avoid disconnecting the power cord.
