12 TROUBLESHOOTING
Experiencing difficulty operating your digital receiver? Check the following points first!

No picture, no sound and no front panel display.

The remote does not operate.
You cannot find all the channels you think should be available.
You can see interference on your normal TV channels or your video.
You sometimes see a red dot or square on the screen, or your picture is “freezing”.
I cannot select all of my channels and the P+/- or Arrow up/down buttons do not always work.
Even if I use the number buttons I cannot access a particular channel.
Receiver is not plugged into the mains or is not switched on.
The receiver is in standby.
You are viewing standard analogue television.
The scart connection has been made wrong or your TV has not selected the correct AV/EXT channel.
Your receiver could be in standby, if it is, it will show the time.
The batteries have been inserted incorrectly or are dead.
Your are not pointing your remote at the receiver.
The signal to your aerial may be weak.
Your aerial may need adjusting or your local transmitter may not be working.
Your digital receiver is interfering with the frequency of your other equipment.
There could be a transmission problem.
Your aerial may have been moved, for example by severe weather.
Your connecting cables have become loose or disconnected.
Some channels have been selected as favourites and the favourites mode is on.
The parental lock has been activated on this channel.
Check mains connection. Press the ON/OFF button on the front of the recceiver.
Press the standby button or any number button to bring the receiver out of standby.
If you have used a scart cable when connecting, press the TV/DTV button on your remote. If you have not used scart, make sure your TV is on the channel that has been tuned for watching digital.
Check scart connections, making sure cables are firmly pushed into the sockets.
Try manually selecting the AV/EXT channel on your TV.
Press the standby button on your remote to bring the receiver out of standby. The front panel will then show a channel number.
Check the condition of the batteries and replace if necessary, according to instructions earlier in this book.
Make sure you point the remote at the receiver and not directly at your TV.
Try retuning your receiver, following the relevant steps in chapter 7. If you are still missing channels, your aerial may need adjusting.
Call ONdigital customer services on 0870 600 9696. They will check this for you.
Your need to change the UHF output of your receiver as descri- bed in section 4.1.2. of this book.
This is normally only a temporary situation and should correct itself. If it persists, contact ONdigital customer services.
Check and if necessary
check all connections and make sure they are all firmly pushed into sockets.
Using the number buttons will enable you to select all of your channels all of the time. The P+/- and arrow buttons will only select favourite channels when favour- ites are on. See chapter 8.5.
Enter your parental code to access the channel or remove it as a locked channel.
