Setting Up and Using Your PowerStrip or PowerBrite

Setting up your PS9, PB9, or Pro7 is a simple procedure which takes only a few minutes:

1.Remove all packing materials (save them in case of need for future service) and install the unit in a standard 19" rack. We recommend that the PB9 and Pro7 be placed in the top slot so that its slide-out fluorescent light can be used to illuminate the entire rack of equipment below.

2.Connect the PS9, PB9, or Pro7 to any standard grounded AC outlet. If you are using a Pro7, the front-panel voltmeter and ammeter will show you the incoming electrical voltage and current draw of connected equipment.

3.Connect the AC cables of your rack equipment to the rear-panel switched AC outlets, using the vertically mounted receptacles for external AC transformer power adapters.

4.Make sure all connected equipment is switched off, then press the front-panel Outlets switch so that its status light is lit red. This activates all rear-panel switched outlets.

5.Turn on all connected equipment, one at a time. If the total load exceeds 15 amps, the front-panel circuit breaker will trip. To reset it, unplug one or more devices, then press in the front-panel circuit breaker.

6.You can also use the unswitched front-panel convenience outlet for additional temporary power needs (such as connecting a guitar amplifier, soldering iron, etc.). This outlet is fully operational whenever the PS9, PB9, or Pro7 is plugged into an AC source, regardless of the position of the front-panel Outlets switch. The front-panel circuit breaker affects this outlet as well as all rear-panel switched outlets.

7.(PB9 and Pro7 only) To illuminate the equipment in your rack, push gently on the front-panel slide-out drawer and it will extend out towards you; then press the front-panel Light switch so that its status light is lit red. If you are using a Pro7, you can illuminate the back of your rack by connecting a Littlite® -compatible lamp to the rear-panel 12 VDC socket.

If you encounter difficulty with any aspect of setting up or using your PS9, PB9, or Pro7 , call Samson Technical Support (1-800-372-6766) between 9 AM and 5 PM EST.

PS9, PB9, PBPRO7 specifications

The Samson PBPRO series comprises three distinguished models: PBPRO7, PB9, and PS9. These power distribution units are engineered to provide robust performance and exceptional reliability, essential for both live sound applications and studio environments.

The PBPRO7 is well-known for its versatility, featuring seven outlets strategically positioned to accommodate a variety of equipment. It has a heavy-duty metal chassis designed for durability, and a rack-mountable format that fits seamlessly in standard 19-inch racks. The unit's power switch is equipped with a built-in circuit breaker for protection against overloads. Its LED power indicator provides real-time status, ensuring users are never in the dark about their power supply.

The PB9 takes things a step further with nine outlets, catering to those with expansive rig requirements. It boasts the same robust construction as the PBPRO7, maintaining the trend of reliability. The PB9 features a power conditioner that includes a noise filter, which minimizes electrical interference, making it ideal for sensitive audio gear. The unit also incorporates a front-mounted AC socket for easy access, proving advantageous for on-the-fly power adjustments during live performances.

The PS9, on the other hand, is tailored for users seeking even more functionality. It offers nine outlets like the PB9 but includes advanced features such as a digital voltmeter that provides real-time feedback on power quality, allowing users to monitor their equipment’s power status. Additionally, the PS9 features multiple surge protection systems, safeguarding connected devices from unexpected electrical surges and spikes, an essential characteristic for preserving high-value audio equipment.

All models in the Samson PBPRO series integrate superior build quality with thoughtful features aimed at providing safety, reliability, and convenience. They utilize advanced surge suppression technology and EMI/RFI filtering, essential to maintain signal integrity and protect against noise interference in audio setups.

In summary, whether it’s the compact design of the PBPRO7, the increased capacity of the PB9, or the sophisticated monitoring capabilities of the PS9, each unit is crafted to handle specific user needs while ensuring top-notch performance and protection in both studio and stage environments.
