Taking a still picture

1 Power on the camcorder.

The camcorder automatically enters DV/DSC mode.

2 Set the zoom as appropriate.

Use the Zoom ( ) button to compose the picture as you like it.

3 Set the strobe and selftimer if necessary.

Move the Joystick upward ( ) to cycle through different strobe and selftimer modes:

: The strobe is off. It will not fi re even in dark surroundings.

: The strobe is set to auto. If the lighting is not enough, the icon will turn yellow when you press the shutter halfway, and then the strobe will fi re when you fully press the shutter down.

: The strobe is on. It will fi re in every shot.

: The selftimer is on. After pressing the Shutter ( ) button, the camcorder will have ten seconds delay before taking a picture.

4 Set other advanced items if necessary.

Press the Menu/OK ( ) button to open the settings menu and fi ne-tune your camcorder. See page 24 for more details.

5 Press the Shutter ( ) button halfway down and hold the button for the camcorder to auto-focus.

When the auto-focus process is done, the color of the focus frame will turn green.

6 Press the Shutter ( ) button fully down to take a still picture.

The picture will be saved in JPEG format.
