MANUAL EXPOSURE

Exposures for still images can be specified by the photographer. The shutter speed range is 15 seconds to 1/1000 second. This function is located on the recording menu, see the navigating the recording menu section on page 35.

Use the up/down keys of the controller to highlight the man-exposure option.

Press the right controller key to continue.

Use the left/right keys to change the shutter speed (1).

Use the down key to change the aperture (2). The apertures available depend on the position of the zoom lens: f/2.8 and f/4.7 (wide angle), f/4.9 and f/ 8.3 (telephoto).

By pressing the shutter-release button partway down, the difference between the set exposure and metered exposure is displayed in Ev (3). If the display turns red, the difference is greater than ±2.0 Ev. See page 54 for more on Ev.

Press the up key to switch the functions changed with the controller between manual exposure and the flash/focus modes.

When using the auto ISO setting (p. 51), camera sensitivity is set to ISO 50. Autoflash and Night Portrait cannot be used. The use of a tripod is recommended for long exposures. Noise reduction is used automatically with exposures of 1/2 second or longer. To cancel manual exposure, select the man-exposure option in the menu.
