Traffic Memo (TIM)

This set is equipped with a digital voice memory, making it possible to automatical- ly record up to four traffic messages lasting a maximum of four minutes.

Depending on the length of the new mes- sage, the oldest messages are automatically deleted.

If a message is longer than four minutes, “Overflow” will be displayed after four min- utes of playback, followed by a beep tone indicating that the system was unable to record the message in full.

If a new traffic message is broadcast while you are listening to the messages, the play- back will be interrupted and the new mes- sage will be recorded.

When the set is switched on, any messag- es that are older than 4 hours will be delet- ed automatically.

A power antenna might be dam- aged in a car wash

If you have installed a power antenna, then please read the warning note at the end of this section.

Switching TIM on/off

When the set is switched on, you can switch TIM on or off. To do so,

press TIM for approx. 1 sec.

There will be a brief status message in the top line of the display:

-TIM 2h = TIM is switched on

-TIM off = the function has been switched off.

If TIM is switched on, any traffic messages broadcast by the traffic radio station you have selected will be recorded for 2 hours after the set has been switched off.

Recording traffic messages

When the audio system is switched on and you are tuned into a traffic information sta- tion, any traffic messages broadcast will be recorded automatically.

When you are tuned into a traffic informa- tion station, either “TP” or “TA” will appear under the top line in the display.

TP - The audio system receives traffic mes- sages broadcast by the station you are tuned into.

TA - The traffic messages broadcast by the traffic information station in the broad- casting network will be recorded.

The station you are tuned into does not have to be a traffic information sta- tion (as described for traffic message reception with RDS-EON).

When the audio system is switched off, it will still record any traffic messages it re- ceives for 2 hours if TIM is switched on and

you have tuned into a traffic information sta- tion.

If you are listening to a station which does not broadcast traffic messages and switch the audio system off with TIM switched on, the system will automatically search for a traffic information station. “TP seek” will ap- pear in the DOT display to indicate this proc- ess. As soon as a station is found, the fre- quency will appear briefly in the display and the system will switch off.

Altering the TIM standby time

You can alter the TIM standby time for the audio system when it is switched off from 2 to 24 hours.

If the TIM function is switched on, “TIM 2h” will always appear in the top line of the dis- play when you switch the audio system off. If you would like to alter the TIM time to 24 hours,

press TIM briefly.

“TIM 24h” will appear in the top line.

The TIM standby time is set to a maximum of 24 hours.

The power antenna remains extended dur- ing the standby time.

To prevent the car battery from running down, the TIM standby time will automati- cally revert to 2 hours every time the audio system is switched back on.
