13 Cordless Handset

13.2Icons on the LCD

Varied icons appear in different modes on the LCD. The following table lists the icons and their descriptions.

Description

It indicates the signal strength. The more the vertical bars, the stronger the signal.

It indicates that the handset is in use.

It indicates that the current input method is for lower-case letters. It indicates that the current input method is for upper-case letters. It indicates that the current input method is for digits.

It indicates the battery charge level.

It appears on the LCD in standby mode if you have enabled the sleep mode.

It indicates that the alarm function is enabled. It indicates that the microphone is muted.

It indicates that the hands-free function is enabled.

It indicates that you have missed one or more calls. This icon disappears after you view the missed calls.

It indicates that the keypad is locked.

13.3Preparations Before Use

Powering On/Off

Before powering on the handset, ensure that the battery is installed. For details, see "Installing the Battery" on page 11.

zThe handset is automatically powered on when you place it on the desk stand.

zWhen the handset is off, press softly to turn on the LCD.
