Setting of the Subtitle Language

Setting item: SUB T. LANGUAGE

Setting contents: AUTO / ENGLISH / GERMAN / FRENCH /

JAPAN / CODE

Set the language of the subtitles displayed on the screen.

When “AUTO” is selected, the primary subtitle language among the recorded ones is played.

To play in a language other than those displayed

1Press 6 (CODE) of the Function buttons. Number input box is displayed.

2Turn the Rotary encoder to input the first digit of the language number.

As for the language number, refer to “List of language code” (page 59).

3Press the Rotary encoder to enter the first digit number.

4Repeat steps 2 and 3 to input a 4 digit language number, then press 6 (ENTER) to memorize the number.

Changing the Country Code Setting

Setting item: COUNTRY CODE

Setting content: CODE

Set the country code when setting the rating level (Parental lock).

When the settings are changed, the old settings are overwritten. Make a note of the current settings before making changes. The settings are not cleared even when the vehicle’s battery is disconnected.

1Press 6 (CODE) .

Number input box is displayed.

2Turn the Rotary encoder to input the first digit of the country number.

As for the country number, refer to “List of Country Codes” (page 60).

3Press the Rotary encoder to enter the first digit.

4Repeat steps 2 and 3 to input a 4 digit country code, then press 6 (ENTER) to memorize the code.

Setting the Rating Level (Parental Lock)

Setting item: PARENTAL

Setting content: P-WORD

Use this function to restrict the viewing of movies to children of appropriate age levels only.

When the settings are changed, the old settings are overwritten. Make a note of the current settings before making changes. Then settings are not cleared even when the vehicle’s battery is disconnected.

On unrated DVDs, playback will not be restricted even if the rating level is set.

Once set, this rating level remains in memory until changed. To enable playback of discs of higher rating levels or to cancel the parental lock, the setting must be changed.

Not all DVDs provide a Parental Lock feature. If you are unsure about a DVD, play it first to confirm. Do not leave DVDs accessible to young children for whom you deem them inappropriate.

1Press 1 (P-WORD).

Number input box is displayed.

2Press 0 to 9 on the supplied remote control to input the password.

The initial number is 1111.

Input a 4 digit pass word.

Input numbers are displayed as “”.

3Press 1 (ENTER) to memorize the number. The PARENTAL screen appears.

Set the rating level of PARENTAL

4Turn the Rotary encoder to select PARENTAL LEVEL.

5Press 1 (;DN) or 2 (UP :) to select the rating level (1 to 8).

Select “8” to cancel the parental lock or if you do not want to set a rating level. The smaller the number, the higher the rating level.

6Press 7 (RETURN) to return to the previous screen.

Changing the password

4Turn the Rotary encoder to select PASSWORD CHANGE.

5Press 1 (P-WORD).

6Turn the Rotary encoder to input numbers, then press

the Rotary encoder to enter a new 4 digit pass word.

Keep a note of the number somewhere safe in case you should forget it.

7Press 1 (ENTER) to memorize the number.

8Press 7 (RETURN) to return the previous screen.

Changing the rating level temporarily

Some discs may request that you change the rating level set in the default settings during playback. In this case, the message appears on the monitor screen “PARENTAL LEVEL CHANGE OK? <YES/NO>.”

If this screen appears, change the level as follows:

To change parental level and play, press 2 (:/J).

To play without changing the parental level, press 4 (L). (When 4 (L) is pressed, playback will be at the parental level set with “Setting Parental Lock.” )
