3.4.3. Declination

You can set the compass declination manually or let the GPS do it. The compass declination options are introduced in the table below:

Off

Compass points to the magnetic north.

 

 

On

Compass points to the geographic north based on the manually

 

set declination. Use this when you know the exact declination of

 

the location. Normally, you can find this on a topographic map.

 

 

Auto

Compass points to the geographic north based on the declina-

 

tion from the GPS database value for the current location. Use

 

this when you do not know the exact declination of the area.

 

 

Setting the compass declination manually

To set the compass declination manually:

1.In the Set menu, Declination is the first menu item. Press ENTER to select it. The On/Off/Auto field is activated. 2.Select On with UP/DOWN and press ENTER. The direction field is activated.

3.Select the desired direction with UP/DOWN and press ENTER. The degree field is activated.

4.Change the degrees with UP/DOWN and press ENTER. The declination is now set and you return to the compass menu.
