Protect the unit from shocks, extreme heat or direct sunlight and chemi- cal attack. The D3 cannot withstand the impact of heavy objects like scuba cylinders, nor chemicals like gasoline, cleaning solvents, aerosol sprays, adhesive agents, paint, acetone, alcohol etc. Chemical reactions with such agents will damage seals, case and finish.

Store your D3 in a dry place when you are not using it.

The D3 will display a battery symbol as a warning when the power gets too low. When this happens, the D3 should not be used until the battery has been replaced (see chapter 3.1.2.).

Do not fasten the strap of your D3 too tightly. You should be able to insert your finger between the strap and your wrist. Use the extension strap when fastening the D3 on your exposure suit.

If left without care for an extended period, a thin film (often invisible to the eye) will cover the unit. Much like the buildup on the glass of an aquarium, this film is the result of organic contaminates found in both salt and fresh water. Suntan oil, silicone spray and grease will speed up this process. As a result of this buildup, moisture will be trapped next to the water contact and will not allow your D3 to operate properly.

The water contact can be cleaned with a small brush (e.g. toothbrush).

IMPORTANT: The D3 should be soaked, then thoroughly rinsed with fresh water and then dried with a soft towel after each dive. Make sure that all salt crystals
