Backing Up the Management Software

Periodically you should backup your Management Software to protect your data from accidental loss in the event of a PC failure.

Before beginning a backup, ensure that you have enough diskettes, or other media, to accommodate your backup data. Due to the large size of the database files that are backed up, it is recommended that backups be to a CD or tape drive.

All files that should be backed up have a .mbd extension, and are located in the installation directory. The default installation directory is listed below:

C:\Program Files\Advantech\Whirlpool

Advantech\DB-Report.

1.Select Start, Programs, Windows Explorer.

2.Navigate to the default installation directory for the Management Software, unless you specified a different location at the time of install.

3.On the right side of the screen select all files with an .mbd extension.

Hint:

To select multiple files, press the [Ctrl] key while selecting the .mbd files.

4.Select Edit, Copy from the menu.

5.Single-click on the drive letter to which you wish to backup your data. For example, if you are backing up to a floppy disk, single-click on the 3 ½ Floppy (A:) drive.

6.Select Edit, Paste from the menu.
