4.Turning Anti-Tip Tubes Up

Turn anti-tip tubes up when being pushed by attendant, overcoming obstacles or climbing curbs.

a)Press the rear anti-tip tube release lever.

b)Hold lever in and turn anti-tip tube up.

c)Release lever.

d)Repeat with second anti-tip tube.

e)Remember to return anti-tip tubes to down position after completing maneuver.

N. FOLDING AND UNFOLDING

1.Folding Chair

a)Remove wheels

i)Depress quick-release axle.

ii)Remove wheel by sliding out quick-

release axle from axle bracket.

iii)Repeat with other wheel.

b)Fold backrest

i)Locate backrest release cable.

ii)Pull release cable an push backrest down.

c)Fold frame

i)Locate axle release cable.

ii)Set footrest on ground.

iii)Reach under the camber tube and pull axle release cable.

iv)Allow chair to collapse upon itself or lift chair and fold footrest up.

Important Note: DO NOT force chair to fold. Let pins release BEFORE moving backrest or axle.

2.Unfolding Chair

a)Push footrest out and away from frame.

b)Hold backrest tube with one hand and push axle forward with the other hand.

c)Push axle until it rests against seat frame and locking pins engage.

d)Push backrest up until locking pins engage.

e)Replace wheel by depressing the quick-release button the the axle.

f)Slide it into the axle sleeve until it locks.

g)Repeat with other wheel. Important Note: Cables may need to be pulled to smoothly unfold chair.

O.ADJUSTING LOCK-OUT TENSION Over a long period of use of a folding wheelchair, there will be a certain amount of wear in the folding mechanism. Use the following method of adjusting the front- frame hinge to improve long-term rigidity in the frame.

a)Adjust hinges by tightening the hinge bolts.

b)Make sure the adjustment is made

evenly in both sides of the frame.

Eventually an adjustment may need to be made to the front frame hinge stop.

a)Remove the front hinge bolt.

b)Remove the knee cap.

c)Remove the adjustment screw.

d)Add a #10 lock washer.

e)Reinstall adjustment screw.

f)Reassemble the front hinge bolt and knee cap.

g)Repeat process on other side of chair.

h)Test the folding of the chair.

i)Washers can be added or subtracted to adjust the tightness of the chair.

j)Make sure any adjustments are made equally on both sides of the chair.

P.CHECK-OUT

After the wheelchair is assembled and adjusted, it should roll smoothly and easily. All accessories should also perform smoothly. If you have any problems, follow these procedures:

1)Review the set-up and check-out section and operating guide to make sure chair was properly prepared.

2)Review troubleshooting guide.
