Driving Your Alero

If operating for the first time, please practice driving your Alero in an open area. All power wheelchairs react differently and it is best getting used to how your wheelchair’s responds in an area free of obstacles. Practice in an open area until you are comfortable operating your Alero. Then practice moving around obstacles. If you are uncomfortable or not happy with the response of your Alero, ask your Golden Authorized Dealer to adjust the programming to a level at which you are comfortable.

Before sitting in your Alero, please make sure:

9the power to your Alero is switched off.

9the wheel locks are in the engaged position. (Fig. 14)

9the brake release levers are in the engaged position. (Fig. 12)

9the battery charger is disconnected.

9you swing your footrest to the side of the chair.

1.Carefully transfer into your Alero making sure not to hit the power button.

2.After transferring, make sure you are comfortably positioned and the armrests and swing-away footrests have been adjusted to suit your needs.

3.Position the joystick controller so it is easy to reach. This will help to eliminate muscle fatigue during driving.

4.The lap positioning belt should be adjusted and fastened before you start to operate your Alero.

Note: Golden Technologies strongly suggests to ALWAYS wear your lap positioning belt. The lap positioning belt is a positioning belt only. It is not designed for use as a safety device.
