FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q.Why do I get consistently low temperature readings?

A.The thermometer is not positioned properly in the ear. The tip of

the thermometer must form a seal around the opening of the ear.

OR

A.The waterproof lens is dirty. Clean the lens with a soft, alcohol moistened cotton swab.

Q.Why is the reading taken in the right ear

different from that taken in the left ear?

A.The temperature is roughly the same in both ears, but the values may differ because the shape and cleanliness of each ear is different. Also, the position of the thermometer can affect the reading.

Q.Can I use this thermometer to measure an

animal’s temperature?

A.No. This thermometer has been designed exclusively for human use. The UT-202 ear thermometer was programmed specifically for the human ear construction and human body temperature.
