Performing an “Ear Tug”
An “Ear Tug” may be performed to help straighten the ear canal in order to provide the thermometer probe with a clear “view” of the eardrum.
To perform the “Ear Tug”, grasp the ear and pull upward and backward simultaneously. Insert the ear probe snugly into the ear and depress the “SCAN” button to take a reading. (Please refer to the section in this manual entitled “How To Use the Health o meter® Thermometer” for complete use instruction.)
When performing an “Ear Tug” on children less than 12 months old, the ear should only be pulled straight back.
