USING THE QUIET FEATURE
The quiet feature lets you talk and listen to peo- ple who are using other radios set to the same channel and quiet code as your radio. This is like having a
When you set a quiet code (there are 38 to choose from) and turn on this feature, the radio transmits a tone with your transmission. This tone is too low for you to hear, but other radios can detect it. This prevents radios which are not set to the same channel and quiet code from in- terfering with your transmissions or reception.
Follow these steps to set a quiet code.
1.Repeatedly press MODE until QUIET and the previously set quiet code appear and flash.
2.Rotate CHANNEL/QUIET/VOLUME clock- wise or counterclockwise until you see the code number
QUIET flashes for 5 seconds after you stop rotating CHANNEL/QUIET/VOLUME, then the selected channel number reappears.
