Even if you use a softphone that is not mentioned above, then you will still be able to use your headset together with your software. In this case, your headset will work just like a passive PC plug-and-play sound card with sound-in and sound-out features. This is probably how your softphone documentation describes the expected operating environment in its documentation.

There are two possible exceptions that may enable headset-based control of your softphone:

If your softphone operates the headset using the USB human interface device standard, as Microsoft Office Communicator does, then your softphone may support the same types of features described above for Office Communicator.
